Villagers Give Back To The Atlanta Community

October 13, 2016

Startups from one of the largest tech hubs volunteer to clean up the city.

At the heart of the Village is our community of people. And when you combine smart, passionate people with our value of paying it forward, you get a lot of self-starters who want to create change. Enter the Village's Pay It Forward Committee. Founded and led by a group of Atlanta Tech Villagers, we are dedicated to giving back to our community. The mission is simple - leverage the talent of the members of the Village in order to give back to the Atlanta community and truly make a positive impact. And they are doing just that.

Last month, the Pay It Forward Committee teamed up with Trees Atlanta to volunteer to clear weeds, refresh mulch, and make room for native plants around the city.  They cleared up weeds, harmful plant life, and provided landscaping assistance along the Atlanta Beltline. A second group of volunteers gathered together the following weekend to help care for young street trees in the Decatur/Avondale Estates area by watering, weeding, and refreshing mulch around the trees. All of the work that was done is going towards protecting the natural landscape of Atlanta, while helping to create beautiful areas for everyone to enjoy.

And this is just the beginning. Their next project is called “It’s A Wrap” where Village members will donate gifts, and their time to wrap those gifts to be able to provide families and children in need. Join the Atlanta Tech Village on December 2nd for an evening of food, fun, and giving back to our community.

Volunteering, raising funds, and providing resources- this talented group of Village entrepreneurs are dedicated to making Atlanta an even better place and we couldn't be more proud.
