ATA April Education Event:

Paparelli’s Seven Criteria for an Angel Investment

Every entrepreneur has a PowerPoint presentation which shows a great idea, huge market, experienced team and amazing potential. How do you ever pick the winners? I’ve decided on seven criteria. I put the startup through this filter and if it comes out the other side then I just might be interested. In this presentation, I’ll use these criteria to share what I learned over the last twenty four years and how I learned it. How you apply my experience to your angel investing criteria is up to you.

Our Guest Speaker – Charlie Paparelli

Charlie Papareli has been a long time friend of the Atlanta Technology Angels and the Atlanta Startup Community.  Charlie Paparelli invested in over thirty five Atlanta startups over the last twenty four years. And he has ten current investments. He shares his experience with angels investors and entrepreneurs in a widely followed blog atwww.paparelli.com.

He began his career as a professional angel investor in 1993. Charlie got his start as an entrepreneur in a vertical market software company back in the go-go years of mini computers and later the IBM PC. After a sale to a public company he built a career as a general manager of software companies, and later Group VP. His love for entrepreneurs and the excitement of startups brought him to angel investing. His angel career is a mixed bag of a few great exits and lots of startups that just didn’t make it. But the few wins made all thedifference.

Charlie has always been active in the Atlanta community. He served as Chairman of High Tech Month, President of B&TA and the Technology Executive Round Table. Board member for the Southeast Software Association and the founding board of the Technology Association of Georgia. He is currently President of the Atlanta High Tech Prayer Breakfast and member of Church of the Apostles. He is married to Kathy for forty years. They have four children and three grand children.
