Advisory Board
Aly Merritt
Aly Merritt is currently the Managing Director of Atlanta Tech Village.
Aly Merritt was formerly the Head of Community at SalesLoft, where she did everything from mopping floors to meeting investors. In past lives, she’s been Chief of Staff, customer experience, graphic design, technical support, copy editing, newspaper page layout, and product management. She has spent the last decade of her career working with the Atlanta startup community to advance both local startups and Atlanta itself on the national stage, with a special focus on diversity, equity and inclusion. She previously organized and emceed the ATL Startup Village, a monthly meetup hosted at Atlanta Tech Village to generate publicity, visibility and potential investment for startups; and is one of the founders of ATL Unlocked, an ecosystem coalition to drive connection and collaboration between startup hubs in Atlanta. She sporadically spends time writing about tech and the startup community on her blog, AlyintheATL.com, between cage matches over the “right” blue sippy cup with her toddler.
Ania Lackey
Ania is currently Director of Partnerships at Atlanta Tech Village.
Ania grew up in Poland. As a young adult, she moved to the U.S. and earned her degrees in Political Science and in Public Administration from Georgia State University. It was at the university where she learned her first lesson on the importance of strong networks and meaningful relationships. Ania is bullish on creating access opportunities for entrepreneurs. During her career, she provided companies with research, data, and financial resources to help them find the right business opportunities in the U.S. and abroad. While at the Metro Atlanta Chamber, Ania led Atlanta’s participation in Brookings Institution’s Global Cities Initiative. At Ernst & Young, she engaged fast-growth companies in the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year program. Most recently, she was Director of Operations at Outlander VC, an Atlanta-based venture capital firm.
Irina Burlack
Irina is currently Director of Building Operations at Atlanta Tech Village.
Irina grew up in Saint Petersburg, Russia. She moved to Atlanta in 2004. Irina graduated with a major in Political Science and minor in philosophy. After graduating college, she opened a yoga studio in Alpharetta and couple of year later opened yoga & barre studio in Atlanta. She is a pro at handstands and paying attention to the details. Irina loves the beach, her cat Buddha, and The Office.
Julie Pierre
Julie is currently the Director of Community & Growth.
Julie is Kansan, born and raised! She grew up in a farm town where the population of cows outnumbered the population of humans, and traffic flowed through two total stoplights. While she was a small-town girl, she decided not to be a small-town woman and moved to central Florida to attend college. After some higher education, Julie pursued her career in the nonprofit world for 10 years before exploring entrepreneurship as an abstract artist and digital marketer. Currently, she is combining her heart for people, community, administration, creativity, and all around badass-ery as the Director of Community and Operations but you can still find her painting, listening to Celine Dion, and sipping a glass of Jam Jar's sweet red shiraz every now and again.
Nisha Kavalam
Nisha is currently the Head of Brand & Events
A daughter of immigrants, Nisha started her life in Denver, Colorado. She inherited the “Midwestern charm” after a few years in Michigan, then lived in Salt Lake City and Los Angeles before finding home in Atlanta in 2015. Nisha studied social work and political science, but in March of 2020, she made the – some would say outrageous – decision to switch from the nonprofit world into the events industry (and hasn’t looked back since). Guided by the philosophy of Priya Parker, Nisha’s passion is to foster creative, intentional and inclusive gatherings. Most recently, Nisha worked on the events team at Atlanta Business Chronicle and continues to work as a Wedding Coordinator in her spare time. She’s a lover of curating the perfect playlist, she’s never met a dog she doesn’t like, and is always on the hunt for her next thrifted clothing, furniture, or decor purchase.

When he was a kid he didn’t accessorize with the normal safety blanket or teddy bear; he was a super-nerd carrying around a 14-gauge electrical wire with alligator clips on either end. Learning to code as a kid and getting “Hello World!” to pop up on the screen has given him an insatiable curiosity about how (and why) the world works and how to make it better. On the weekends you can find him doing home improvement projects or trying to convince his wife he needs to buy more expensive tools to complete them.

Jeff Goldblatt
Make an AppointmentJeff Goldblatt has been involved with startups of many shapes/sizes (including: VC-funded, Angel-funded, Bootstrapped… successes, failures, and that subjective gray area between) for ~20 years and has served as Advisor/Mentor/Coach to 100+ young founders. Originally from Framingham, MA, he has an MBA from Emory University and a PhD from The Hogwarts School of Witchcraft & Wizardry.
As creator of the original “Rejection Hotline” – a satirical phone service that grew into a 7-figure VIRAL *P.A.C.A.S.M. company (*Products As Content As Social Marketing) with 300+ “Humor Hotlines” engaging millions of fans – Jeff became a nationally-recognized expert on VIRALITY (in Products/Content/Marketing). He feels awkward writing in the 3rd-person, so he will now switch to 1st-person (and so will I). #BeReal – Like MOST entrepreneurs, I put “CEO” on my first business card. Also like most entrepreneurs, I once believed in The Tooth Fairy. In BOTH cases, it took YEARS to realize I WAS WRONG. My #IamNOTaCEO epiphany was undoubtedly the catalyst for my first startup success. – [3 months after replacing myself as CEO of my own company, we raised $1 MILLION in funding; 9 months later we were a PROFITABLE 7-figure company – after YEARS struggling as a solo founder wearing all the hats)] – And it began my fascination (obsession?!) with #SelfAwareness and the MANY related problems that young founders are OFTEN blind to (until YEARS LATER – often lamenting: “I Wish I Knew THEN, What I Know NOW!”) Full-Disclosure: Yes, I’ve occasionally been called a “Negative Nancy” – but I believe “Realistic Rick” is much more accurate AND much more helpful to young/future founders because… “Negative / Pessimistic (BAD?)” vs. “Positive / Optimistic (GOOD?)” creates a Dangerous False Dichotomy! [Spoiler Alert] “Objective / Realistic (GAME-CHANGER!)”
- Multiple Perspective Thinking: Helping you see how your and your business are seen by potential customers, employees, investors, and… by FUTURE YOU?!?
- Helping YOU to challenge your own ASSumptions– Do you KNOW it or THINK it or HOPE it? – Do you Differentiate POSSIBLE vs. PROBABLE?
- – Confidence is great – sometimes; is yours based on data/stats/testing or hunches/hopes & conversion rates YOU plugged in to hit YOUR revenue/growth goals?
- I Have Many *FUQs to Give! *[Frequently UNasked Questions] NOW is the time to discuss/debate uncomfortable topics (including potentially-bad FUTURE STUFF!) – so you can consider it objectively/calmly (with minimal emotional bias!) while it’s still just hypothetical!!
